Swimming achievements at Brigstock!

Alysia Antwi, in Oak class (Year 6), has blown us away with her swimming prowess. She arrived at school last week, dressed with medals. 50 medals hung around Alysia’s neck, demonstrating her amazing swimming ability and drive to do well in competitions. There were numerous gold, silver and bronze medals for a variety of swimming strokes (and all achieved within 18 months) . We are very proud of Alysia’s achievements and look forward to hearing bout her future successes.

Alysia has written about her life as a swimmer:

Hello, my name is Alysia Zoe Antwi and swimming has always been my passion. I first started swimming at the age of 5. I started learning the basic strokes. Over time, as I got better, my passion for the sport grew, and I began competing between the ages of 8 – 9 .The feeling of failing is painful, but the feeling of victory is powerful. Swimming has not only kept me physically fit but also taught me discipline, perseverance, and the value of hard work. The trust with people I’ve made through the swimming team has made the experience even more rewarding. Whether I’m training for a competition or simply working hard on a normal day at training, the water has always been a place that I can call home. It calms me down and makes me feel happy. When it comes to swimming, I dream big and dedicate all I have to one day achieve my goal – Olympic level!

To all the fellow people out there that want to become Olympic swimmers, like me, remember that consistency, hard work, and believing in yourself are key. Every stroke counts. You can achieve your goal.

Michael Phelphs once said, “You can’t put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the further you get.”

Thank you.  Alysia Zoe Antwi.
