Saturn class spent their “We Love Reading” session today dipping into the four Sparks Award shortlisted books. After discussing the front covers and reading the blurbs and reviews, children broke off into groups to read the first chapters of the book that most interested them. Hopefully during Book Week we can dive deeper into the books and get to the point of voting on our favourites. At the moment, Tom Palmer’s ‘Angel of Grasmere’ is the favourite but that may be due to the fact that children are familiar with his writing having read ‘Armistice Runner’ for whole class reading earlier in the year.
