Wow! What a hot few days we’ve had in school. We’ve all tried our best to keep cool, drink lots of water and stick to the shade. We’ve had a great week with a number of exciting events and lots of new learning.
In Reception the children enjoyed a fantastic workshop from Zoolab, where they got to see, hold and learn about different minibeasts such as a giant African snail, a scorpion and even a snake! Orange class led a wonderfully informative class assembly where they shared their recent learning about minibeasts – click here to read more! In Year 1 we’ve had an African drumming workshop, where children joined in with the beat of the drum and followed some dance moves in time with the rhythm. Children have also been writing some amazing diary entries based on their focus text ‘Grace and Family’ by Mary Hoffman. We have been so impressed with their writing this week. Our children in Year 2 have been creating their own tropical islands and have written persuasive adverts, which have been tempting Mrs Sorensen to book a summer holiday somewhere exotic!
Well done to everyone who received a Rainbow certificate in assembly this morning and to Sofian, Clem, Caitlin and Rion for winning a Word of the Week rosette for using the word summer in a sentence. Next week our word is investigate, linking in with our Science Week. Please click here to read the Science Week newsletter, with details of what we’ll be getting up to!
Our Lower School Sports Day is on Friday 8th July. Please click these links to read the letters for EYFS (Nursery and Reception) and KS1 (Year 1 and Year 2).
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the PTFA fair last Sunday. It was a fabulous day and whilst we’re still waiting for the final fundraising total, the PTFA believe it’s been one of their best fundraisers yet! Thank you to everyone for their support and commitment. Without parent and staff volunteers these events would just not be possible.
Finally, I’d like to pass on our gratitude to everyone who has given their condolences and taken the time to write in the Book of Remembrance for Ms Fernandez, which will remain in the Lower School office for at least another week. We have all been overwhelmed with everyone’s kind words and wonderful memories and will be passing this onto her family.
We hope everyone stays cool and enjoys their weekend.
