Cypress School choir shone brightly at the CSMA Junior Festival – Annual Festival of Music, themed United in Song. The children performed an incredible array of songs, ranging from folk to rock, pop to traditional, and even soulful ballads. Through each piece, they explored powerful themes of kindness, unity, belonging, and respect. The evening was a celebration of how music brings us together and the atmosphere was nothing short of magical. The Cypress Choir, led by the ever-dedicated Ms Barker, had been tirelessly preparing for months and their hard work was evident as they joined other choirs and performers to create an unforgettable experience.
The highlight of the evening, for me, was when kites appeared on stage during Let’s Go Fly a Kite—it looked as though they were soaring through the air and it added a beautiful touch of whimsy to the performance. I was also mesmerised by the stunning harmonies in Siyahamba and the show-stopping solos from Autumn and Jessie in Somewhere Only We Know and One Little Voice. These moments were pure magic and I couldn’t help but beam with pride as our talented choir members gave their all on stage. It was clear that they had poured their hearts into every note.
We are incredibly proud of all of our choir members, who represented themselves and the school with such grace and enthusiasm. A massive thank you to Ms Barker for her unwavering commitment, spending countless hours preparing the children and organising multiple trips to Fairfield Halls for rehearsals. We must also thank Ms Wayman for her support on the day, accompanying the choir and ensuring everything went smoothly.
The experience they’ve provided our children is one they will never forget and I left the event with a heart full of pride. It was an uplifting, joyous evening and I couldn’t have been prouder of what they achieved.
