On Friday 17th January both the school council and house captains visited the parliamentary education centre. We were given a history lesson about parliament that went back all the way to King John and the Magna Carta in 1215. Then we were given a guided tour of the palace of Westminster, including the 900 year old Great Hall. MPs in the House of Commons were sitting that morning, so we were able to watch the action ourselves from the public galleries.
The visit has given our council and captains an insight into the democratic process, and the importance of being able to make a change and representing others. We were not allowed pictures inside of Parliament but we did take a few snaps as we travelled around! Have a look at the pictures for some highlights from our trip.
