CYP UPPER: New Beginnings

What a wonderful start to the new school year we have had this week at Cypress! It is so lovely to see the children so motivated in their fresh uniforms ready for learning (and catching up with friends!) We enjoyed an assembly on Wednesday where we considered our theme, ‘new beginnings’, we thought very carefully about goals we would like to achieve and recognised that with a new year comes a fresh start!

Our new Year 3 children have started the year wonderfully, showing great resilience as they marched through the gates confidently each morning. Thank you to parents also for supporting their children in this and waving them off at the doors. They are settling in well.

We are pleased to share that lots of work has taken place in the school garden this summer, with the erection of our garden classroom!

As you will know, members of our dedicated PTFA have been helping us to create a wonderful garden space. We send continued thanks to Bonnie’s Dad – Luke and his construction team; Mollie North’s Mum and Dad, Richard and Miranda; Patrick’s Mum – Rona and Tess’ Mum – Jemma for all of their hard work. A few of our amazing pupils also helped them over the summer with the work in the garden. They were Tess, Mollie and Samuel. They helped with the digging, raking and moving of soil as well as sorting out the tools for the new outdoor classroom.  A big thank you to them and a few slightly older ex-pupils – Jackson, Kenzo, Cailen, Sam and Aysha without whom the work would not have been possible.
There are further plans for this the garden, so watch this space!

Cypress Superstars

We are definitely starting the year as we mean to go on and already have had some visitors to the office to celebrate their learning. I saw Izzy in Cedar class, who shared in assembly that this year she will be working hard to improve her writing. She visited me with her first piece, and she will hopefully visit me throughout the year so we can celebrate her progress! I was also visited by Josiah, Jinisha, Joanna, Josh and Rayyan of Holly class, who has been creating pieces of art that tell the observer all about them. They had some lovely common features, such as family being very important to them. Josiah, Jinisha, Joanna, Josh, Rayyan: it was so lovely getting to know you all!
Whilst visiting the wetlands in the summer Ms Fernandes and Holly Class entered the Generation Wild competition that was running. They won £500 in Muddyface vouchers for the school to help support nature connection! The vouchers will be used to support further work in the garden. Thank you, Ms Fernandes and Hawthorn (previously Holly)!
