We were very excited to have one of our parents come into school to read a familiar story to our children in her home language. Susana, mum to Audrey in Purple class, read ‘A squash and a Squeeze’ by Julia Donaldson in Twi. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to the story and watching Susana use her home-made props to help the children understand the story as she read. This was a fantastic experience for all of the children – thank you Susana.
We always encourage our parents to come in and read in their home languages during our International celebration week in the autumn term but we would love volunteers at any time! Please let your class teacher know if you would like to tell a story.
