In Little Cypress we have been learning all about how plants grow, inspired by books such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Jasper’s Beanstalk and Titch. We each planted a runner bean before half-term and couldn’t believe the amazing beanstalks we found when we came back to school this week! We talked about how seeds need sunlight, water and something to grow in, such as soil.
We have started to plant our Cress Mountain and have added cat grass, mustard and cress seeds to compost and watered them. We are going to check on Monday and see if the seeds have started to sprout! We predicted that the seeds might grow but had a varied response regarding what they might grow into, including beanstalks and rainbows! Watch this space….
In the Nursery playground we have been cultivating a wonderful garden using reclaimed materials to plant in, including tyres, pallets, Croc shoes and water dispensers. We take it in turns to water and tend to the garden and it is looking really pretty! Also much admired has been the Wild Meadow bank of flowers opposite Little Cypress which is teeming with gorgeous foliage.
Have a wonderful weekend and we hope to see lots of you at the Summer Fair this Sunday, 12th June from 1.00-5.00pm on the school field.
