This year Ecclesbourne have been lucky enough to be apart of the Green Project, a health and wellbeing programme which aims to teach young people about planting, growing, harvesting, cooking and eating. In the Autumn term, a group of our year 6 children joined the Green Project in the allotments helping to plant and tend a variety of fruits and vegetables. The Green Project teamed up with IBM London and invited the year 6 allotment team to visit IBM. During our visit to IBM, we saw a number of projects in action including Robot Dog and a sustainable innovation focused on water management solutions. The second part of our visit saw us working in smaller groups to think about problems that might arise for allotment users. We worked together to brainstorm solutions, thinking about their value and feasibility. Our work will continue via online sessions where we hope to develop our ideas further and create a prototype. Thank you to the Green Project and IBM for a fantastic day out!
