This term, our school council have been working with one of our Ecclesbourne parents to test the inspirational Figures of Black British Society (FOBBS) app, an educational resource which focuses on delivering high-quality information on significant figures with Black British heritage. The app aims to celebrate the achievements of Black Britons past and present, promote diversity and increase representation with a view to breaking down invisible barriers to young people’s aspirations.
The children helped test the app in its ‘Beta’ stage by taking part in an engaging session where they explored the app and participated in a fun quiz. They showed off their investigation and technology skills as they used the app to research the answers to a variety of questions. The children were presented with certificates to thank them for their support and contributions.
The app will be a fantastic teaching aid to support children and adults find interesting information about the important contributions made by Black Britons to our society. We look forward to letting everyone know when this exciting resource is officially launched.
