On Tuesday it was Safer Internet Day and this year the theme was ‘Too Good To Be True’. We had special assemblies at the Upper and Lower Sites which focused on Scams. We learnt that a scam is where someone tries to trick somebody else to get something from them, like money, items in a game, or personal information. We discussed something is a scam if it seems to good be true. It may contact you when you weren’t expecting it, like in a message or email. A scam will also ask for personal information, money or to trade with you. We are now all experts in being able to identify a scam.

Happy Retirement Mrs Lee
Today was a sad day at Cypress Lower as we bid farewell to Mrs Lee who is retiring and moving to Devon. Mrs Lee has been part of the Cypress family for 14 years. She started at the school as a one to one teaching assistant in Year 4 and 5 and then moved to Year 2. She then spent some time at the school working as a lunchtime supervisor. Mrs Lee has worked as teaching assistant in both Nursery and Rainbows for the last 12 years. We wish her all the best in her new adventures and thank her for all her hard work and commitment to the children and families at Cypress.
Cypress Superstars
Well done to Nico in Ruby Class who produced a wonderful model of the London Eye as part of his home learning. He had also completed some super research including that the London eye has one pod for each of the London Boroughs. Congratulations to Apphia in Ruby Class who came to show her amazing Tudor house that she made at home as part of her thematic learning. The house was so incredibly detailed and even had working light inside. Well done to Gilbie, Alfie, Isaiah and Sky in Turquoise Class who came to show their fantastic maths work. They had been completing an assessment on fractions and really challenged themselves. We were so impressed that not only had they completed all the questions, they had got them all correct.
We are very proud of Ellie in Holly Class, who had excelled in science and could explain with confidence how, igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks are formed! Well done, Ellie! James and Ellis in Hazel Class also came to share their knowledge on life cycles and described in great detail the life cycle of a butterfly using technical language. Zephaniah and Zhane in Larch Class have been working dilligently to create a piece of descriptive writing with varied openers. It was a delight to read your stories! Your ‘beasts’ sound terrifying! You both successfully created powerful imagery through the use of thoughtful language, well done!
Gabby in Rowan Class has a wonderful poem to share with you this week. We have been thinking about kindness, spite, love and hate and remembering those who suffered during the events of World War Two. Click below to hear Gabby read the poem.
We wish all our children and families a relaxing half term and look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday 24th February.
