CYP: Striving for Success

We are heading towards the last half week of term but this hasn’t stopped all our children from continuing to try their hardest and reach new goals.  It is so pleasing to see how much resilience the children are demonstrating.

This week at the Lower School, Miss Balhadere gave the children a very interesting assembly all about Bastille Day.  They learnt all about the history of this day, how it is celebrated and even learnt some French.  We have also been learning about ‘World Chocolate Day’ which is celebrated on the 7th July each year.  The children enjoyed learning about the history of the chocolate bar and how chocolate was made. This week at the Upper School, we have been considering the concept of ‘change’;how it makes us feel, what we can do when we feel worried about change and the difference it can make to our lives. We together considered some positive ways to deal with change, including seeing it as an opportunity for growth.

Year 6 performance

I have been bowled over by the abundance of talent within our Year 6 cohort. I sat down to watch the Thursday evening performance of the Wizard of Oz and I  have to say, it was spectacular.

Every child played their role perfectly and added to the professional feel of the performance. Children confidently sang solos and the children sang songs with melodic harmonies.

I wish to thank all of the adults that have played a role in making the show what it was – outstanding. Special thanks to Ms Snedden who helped create fantastic costumes and the PTFA for providing the funds to purchase a base stock of costumes for this and future performances. Special thanks to Year 6 staff, especially Mrs Wayman who helped bring this idea to life.

I was thoroughy entertained. Thank you Year 6!

Lower School Sports’ Day

The weather was kinder to us today and we all had a fantastic day at our Sports’ Day.  Well done to all the children for taking part and to all the parents and carers who joined us.  There will be an article giving more details next week.

PTFA Summer Fair

The Cypress PTFA have raised a whopping £5,500 from the Summer Fair two weeks ago. These funds are used to pay for or subsidise experiences for Cypress children, improvements to the sites and new resources. We are very grateful to all members of our very dedicated PTFA. Special thanks to Laura Good, Chair of the PTFA for taking the lead and organising the events this year.

Year 5 Football

Congratulations to our Year 5 football team! After just a few weeks of training, they played exceptionally well and secured third place in this afternoon’s tournament. Well done, team!
A huge well done to Lucy, Faith, and Jago in Hazel class; Sammy, Tess, and Ezra in Willow; and Louis, Jacob, Luca, and Xavier in Sycamore. Great job, everyone.

Cypress Superstars

Well done to Malcolm and Isabella in Yellow Class who came to visit with some brilliant writing about bees.  They were full of facts to share with Ms Binks.  Congratulations to Tate and Violet in Blue Class who had completed some excellent independent instruction writing explaining how to make pancakes.  We are really proud of you.

Please check your child’s bag for their end of year report today. This will contain additional information about new classes and teachers for KS2 children and Standardised Assessment Test (SAT) results for Year 6.

We wish all our children and families a lovely weekend.

Come on England!
