At the Lower School, we have been continuing our work on growth mindset and learning about the power of ‘yet’. We have shown that we understand that just because we can’t do something it doesn’t mean we will never be able to. The children could give examples of things they learnt to so but couldn’t before such as walk, read, and get dressed. This week we have been using the phrase ‘I can’t do this yet’ to help us tackle challenging things. At the Upper School, we have been thinking about rights and responsibilities. We are excited to know that there are many positions open for application at Cypress, such as school council, librarian and reading ambassador. We have also been thinking about our personal responsibilities and to always to consider consequences when making choices at home and at school.
Year 6 had a fantastic time in the garden in our new outdoor classroom – they were learning how to propagate plants with professional gardener, Jemma Wylie. They had a great time and are excited to see if their cuttings start to take root!

Macmillan Coffee Morning
Thank you to all the members of our school community who were able to join us at the Coffee Morning today or who donated cakes. By making a donation, we are able to help support Macmillan nurses. Macmillan nurses can help with cancer diagnosis, treatment, and help manage side effects. We appreciate your support and donations. Well done to our House Captains and Vice Captains who received so many compliments from parents for their excellent manner.
Cypress Superstars
Well done to Lincoln in Ruby Class. Lincoln came to visit with his amazing maths where he had used the ‘magic of mistakes’ to help him make huge progress in his learning. Congratulations to Elsie and Larissa in Indigo Class who came and shared their story map they created together. It was a fantastic story and Ms Binks now wants a dinosaur car like the one in the story. A huge well done to Gilbie and Kayden in Turquoise Class who have been showing they care by being excellent lunch assistants. Their good manners have also made them good role models to others. We are so proud of you! Elliot in Holly class was spotted trudging up the hill with the most spectacular model of the Crystal Palace. He had paid close attention to detail and invested many hours to make the structure into the iconic building. James, too had paid attention to detail and brought a wonderful model of Crystal Palace. He had really focused on making the exterior very similar paying attention to its unique geometry. Well done! Ellie from Holly had created a beautiful steam train which even included a second carriage connected with a coupler! Great DT skills, Ellie. Angel is making great progress in phonics and has been wowing us with her blending skills! Suwaiba created a very detailed diagram of a volcano at home – she will be an expert in their upcoming geography lessons! Amiyah also came to see me with a beautifully labelled Viking longboat – she was very knowledgeable on the topic!
We wish all of our children and families a lovely weekend
