It has been a very busy day at Cypress Lower. We started the day with children and staff arriving dressed as dragons, monsters, toys and Tudors. It was lovely seeing so many colourful and creative costumes whilst I was on the gate this morning.
At 9 a.m. we opened our Pegasus Museum. As I opened the doors, I was greeted by a huge crowd of parents and carers waiting to join us and see their child’s work. It was truly wonderful to have so many of you join us and the children were so excited to share their learning.
The school looked amazing. Little Cypress had filled half the hall with their work on ‘Love’ and ‘Chinese New Year‘. On the other side of the hall, Reception had shared their amazing creations from their topic ‘Watch out, there’s a monster about!’. Everyone was very impressed with the children’s creativity and imagination.
In the Year 1 classrooms, there was a gallery of the work the children had completed in their topic ‘Toys’. We had some brilliant sketches of toys in the style of Peter Blake. The children had also made some cup and ball games. We were most impressed by the toys the children had designed and made themselves. We had planes, monsters, guitars, castles and cats to name a few.
The Year 2 classrooms were a celebrations of all things Tudor. We had Tudor houses and some beautiful portraiture on display. The children were having a fantastic time creating their own peg dolls and writing with quills and ink. They finished the morning with a visit from Henry VIII himself and were able to ask him lots of questions.
