This week at the Lower Site, we have been thinking about the Pegasus value ‘We Care’. In assembly, we discussed how we can show caring by being kind to one another. We learnt that kindness is good for us and releases good chemicals in our brain that help us to focus on our learning. The children are showing how caring they can be towards each other and the adults in the school. We have seen some wonderful examples of children displaying this value this week.
At the Upper School we have been thinking about planning for success in our learning. We also know that success is not a linear path and that planning helps but we need to be flexible in our plans. Confucious said, “When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” This week we have focused on learning to revise our plans if we encounter challenges. It’ s not always easy, and requires us to be aware of our prior knowledge, plans and progress – but we are continually working hard to improve our metacognition skills!
Class Assembly
We started the morning on Thursday with a great assembly from Indigo Class. Year 1 shared some great performances of poems they have been learning about in their English lessons. The children made good use of prosody and expression in their perfomances. If you would like to read more about this assembly, click here.
This morning at the Upper School we had a wonderful assembly from Lime Class, who gave us a run down of their learning and shared some golden nuggets for life. They let us know that like Matthew Henderson and many of them at times in their leanring journey, pereseverence is key to success. They finished by singing ‘A Better Tomorrow’ by Jahmiel. Thank you Lime Class for an uplifting assembly. What a great way to end the week! Thank you to Ms Stewart and Ms Joshi for supporting the children to deliver their assembly today.
Cypress Superstars
This week we have had lots of visitors to the office to share their amazing work. Zen in Red Class came to visit with some lovely writing he had completed about emergency vehicles. He had used his sounds brilliantly to create labels. Ruth in Yellow Class produced a really clear description of Burglar Bill on her wanted poster that would make him very easy to find. Marlowe in Orange Class came with some great work where he had used his sounds to label different foods correctly. In Blue Class, Imogen, Louiza, Zack, Oscar, Clara, Jacob and Jason came to share their poetry based on ‘The Sound Collector’. Leena and Violaine in Indigo Class also shared their wonderful poetry. It has been lovely to have so many visitors this week. Alice in Rowan brightened my day yesterday with her hopeful Spring poem. It was the perfect antedote to all this terrible weather! I have also been visited by Tabitha, who has been practising her sewing technique during Life Skills sessions. She made a beautiful bookmark for her Mum! She’s going to love it! Well done Tabby. Berry wowed me with her knowledge of Spanish culture, After her lesson with Ms Sa Walmsley, she arrived at my door with encyclopaedic standard knowledge! Keep up the dedication to your learning, Berry! Sophie, Bea and Harry shared their cat kennings. They were wonderfully descriptive and humourous! Click the link to listen. Enjoy!
