CYP: A wonderful week of Learning

It has been a very busy week at Cypress with the children enjoying learning new things and making good progress.

At the Lower School, we started the week by learning about ‘Trooping of the Colour’.  The children were very surprised to find out that King Charles III has two birthdays and that this is his official birthday.  We learnt about the origins of the ceremony, talked about what happened and why and watched a short video of King Charles and Princess Catherine arriving so we could see what happens.  What an interesting way to start the week!

At the Upper School we have been considering ‘peer pressure’, more specifically when friends and acquaintances encourage us to make positive choices or potentially negative choices. We know to fully consider the consequences of our decisions before making a choice and use our moral compass to guide us. True friends will respect and support the decisions we make. We will also be visited by PCSO Eric next week who will introduce himself and the safer neighbourhood team.

Reception visit Crystal Palace Farm

Well done to our Reception children who have been on their first trip this week.  They went on a very exciting bus journey to Capel Manor Farm in Crystal Palace and had a wonderful time.  The children enjoyed a picnic lunch and loved seeing all the animals.  Thank you the staff and parents who helped out the day and the trip so successful and memorable for the children.

Cypress Superstars

Congratulations to Mateo in Ruby Class who came to share his amazing artwork of a shark that he completed at home.  Well done to Zhion in Red Class who came to share his amazing independent writing about snakes and African land snails.  He read his work beautifully to Ms Binks. Well done to Ruairi in Indigo Class who came to share his fantastic writing.  Congratulations to Louiza, Isla, Rosie, Gilbie, Abigail and Omir in Blue Class who completed some amazing peace posters with catchy slogans inspired by their work about Nelson Mandela. Cillian and Ariana came to show me the class PSHE book, celebrating their individual uniqueness. It was wonderful to read. Thank you Cedar class! Well doen to Saray, Bethlehem and Stacie, who had been making coil pots. They were testing various structures with plasticine before deciding on their final design. They showed great creativity and really focused on technique – We were very impressed!

We wish all our children and families a wonderful weekend.
