The reception children had an exciting visit from local firefighters. They were very keen to learn more about what firefighters do to keep up safe. The firefighters told them all about their job of keeping people safe and all different types of ways they help people. For example, they help with fires, leaks and they even help if animals are stuck in trees! They also explained why they wear heavy jackets, helmets, and boots to protect themselves from fire and heat. The children listened eagerly and asked lots of questions. Some of the children even got to put on the firefighters’ clothes! Koa said, “the coat is very heavy!”
The children all decided that the best part of the visit was climbing aboard the fire truck! It was lovely to see how thrilled the children were about being able to get aboard the bright, red fire truck! They pretended to drive, used the maps and learned about what the hoses and ladders do in an emergency.
As the visit ended, the firefighters surprised everyone by turning on the loud siren before they left! The joyful sound filled the air as the children waved goodbye, inspired by the brave heroes they had met. We were very grateful that they were able to come and visit us!
