Book week celebrations continued on Monday with a fantastic visit from children’s author, Grace Francis. Grace has a background in drama and a passion for seeing diversity reflected in children’s literature. In fact, she co-wrote ‘A Meeting in the Mirror’ with her then six-year-old son Micah as they wanted to ensure that there were more books published with black characters to inspire a new generation of readers.
EYFS and KS1 children enjoyed workshops with Grace, who brought the sessions to life through music and drama. Nursery’s workshop centred around the traditional tale, The Three Little Pigs. Year 1 looked at Grace’s book ‘G.O.A.T – The Greatest of all Trolls’ whilst Year 2 worked with G.O.A.T and ‘A Meeting in the Mirror’.
A wonderful time was had by all and we hope to see Grace again in the future.
