Rocksteady Pop Up Concert
Over the last few years, Atwood has partnered with Rocksteady Music School who have developed the musical skills of our children so much, that the children wanted to perform in a ‘pop up concert’.
Rocksteady lead sessions for Mini Rockers (Reception to Year 2), Rock Heroes (Years 3 and 4) and Rock Icons (Years 5 and 6). Grounded in a philosophy of fun learning through collaboration, the children, rather than having 1 to 1 lessons, form their own rock groups to learn and play together. Listening, turn taking and collaboration are all essential musical skills that need to be learned, as well as the actual playing of instruments or singing.
The Hall was packed with a very impressed audience of children as well as many grown ups who were treated to a great concert. My thanks go to Grace, Atwood’s Band Leader, for teaching the bands so well over the last term.
