ATW Nursery News – Colours and Christmas

The children in Nursery have continued their learning about colours with its link to the story ‘Mouse Paint’ by Ellen Stoll Walsh. The book emphasises on the primary colours and what happens when 2 of the colours are mixed together. As a group, we were able to recognise the colours and then predict the result when mixed together. Many nursery wizards came to stir in our magic potions and the class were excited when they could see the water changing colours. To ensure the children got hands on with the experiments, we painted our hands different primary colours and mixed them together to see them change.

It is very Christmassy in nursery too as we prepare for our Christmas performance in less than 2 weeks time. There has been lots of Christmas crafts taking place as well as decorations from the Christmas EYFS day last week.
In our maths carpet sessions, we have been recapping our awareness of numbers and ensuring we are secure with numbers 1-3 using pictorial representations.
This week in forest school, it has been extremely muddy! However we used the natural elements to create mud paint and created our own art masterpieces…followed by lots of muddy puddles, chocolate puddings and digging!
