CYPRESS: Exciting Book Week Kick-Off with Poet Josh Siegal!

Cypress School was buzzing with excitement as we kicked off Book Week with a fantastic visit from poet, Josh Siegal! Students and staff were treated to a delightful and inspiring session filled with laughter, fun poems, and moments that made us think.

Josh Siegal charmed the audience with his hilarious poems, getting everyone involved with lively participation. The children joined in enthusiastically, laughing at the silly rhymes and quirky verses that made everyone giggle. But it wasn’t all just fun and games—Josh also shared some thought-provoking poems that sparked imagination and creativity in the students.

One of the highlights of the assembly was when Josh spoke about us to his mischievous cat, Bluebell, who he affectionately described as “beloved but annoying.” The stories about Bluebell’s antics had the whole room laughing, and it was clear that Josh’s sense of humor was infectious!

His visit provided a perfect, inspiring start to Book Week, with students feeling motivated and eager to dive into their own reading adventures. Josh’s dynamic storytelling left everyone smiling and ready to celebrate the world of books and creativity. Year 3 then followed up the assembly with class workshops with Josh – more details about their sessions to follow!
