Wow! A wonderful transformation took place in Chestnut classroom on Thursday evening. The Amazon Rainforest arrived!.
Miss Campbell and Miss Lawrence worked hard to make the classroom come alive with plants, creatures, animals, sounds, smells and colours of the rainforest. It looked amazing and we couldn’t wait for the children to arrive on Friday morning.
Children and staff arrived to school dressed as Rainforest animals, insects, plants etc and enjoyed a fun-filled day of activities. The day kicked off with a music lesson, in which the children learnt a song all about the rainforest and why it is important to keep them protected. This was followed by a dance class with rainforest links, art work and to finish of their busy day, the children all had an opportunity to taste and smell food that is grown from the rainforest i.e. papaya, coffee, chocolate, pineapple etc.
The children and staff had a thoroughly enjoyable day and learnt a lot about the wonderful rainforest that exist in the world. They now look forward to their 5 week Literacy unit of work around this topic.
Here a few photos of the day.
