Reception Visits

It has been a very exciting week in Reception.  As part of their ‘Superheroes’ topic, they were visited by real life superheroes who help us.  The classes were visited by the police and the fire brigade.  The children had lots of interesting questions to ask and even got to have a turn spraying the water on the fire engine and operating the lights.  What a memorable experience!

Cypress Superstars

Well done to Elliot in Green Class.  Elliot has been awarded a Blue Peter Eco Badge for his work on recycling.  He has also been learning about sea turtles.  Elliot was so inspired by his teacher that he recommended that Mrs Dutton should give a talk for Blue Peter.  Congratualtions to Gordon, Harper, Ivy, Molly, Heidi, Musawer and Jamie in Turquoise Class who have completed some excellent addition and subtraction work.  They even completed some tricky problems which they solved correctly.   Well done to Arona, Gilbie, Penda, Sky, Tate and Jacob in Blue Class who came to visit the office with some very creative stories based on the book ‘Chalk’.

Well done to Cillian, Sophia, Shyla, Tyler, Kian and Phoebe in Cedar for their very detailed non chromological reports on the Stone Age. They had also focused time and attention on their presentation! Keep up the great work! Ted in Holly gets a special mention today! We have spoken in assembly about sharing kind words, how they make others feel and how beneficial being kind is for our own mental health. Ted took kindness to a whole new level with his wonderful card. Ted – you’ve made my day! Emilia in Hawthorn wowed me with her persusasive letter about the conservation of tigers! She used emotive language and rehtorical questions to capture the reader. Great work, Emilia! Ilyas in Hawthorn has drawn the most amazing tiger as part of an advert against the killing of tigers! He also used persuasive and emotive language to make his advert more effective! Well done, Ilyas! Jacob and Kaycee in Holly have been thinking about how to spread kindness and have been creating posters to spread the message!

It was a delight to watch! Well done to all the adults who helped the children with their peformance: Miss Fernandes, Miss Hassan, Mrs Corbett, Ms Habib, Mr Nicol and Ms Francis.
