Becoming an ECT with the Pegasus Academy Trust

Following a successful audit of our ‘in house’ training provision, the staff development team at the Pegasus Academy Trust have been given the green light to continue managing our own training for both first and second year ECTs from September 2024.

The Pegasus Academy Trust has a long standing tradition of ‘growing our own’ teachers who are inducted in an established methodology for teaching the ‘Pegasus way’, with the support of the staff development team and mentors in each school.

At any one time we have up to 16 teachers in training at our various school sites.  We offer an ‘assessment only’ route to gain QTS in association with the TES institute for suitably qualified applicants.

We are also accredited to deliver the only school based ECT programme in Croydon.  In June 2024 our first cohort under the new training requirments of eight ECT’s celebrated the completion of their induction with the Trust.  Here’s what one of our ECTs says about the programme:

‘As the academic year draws to a close, it’s important to reflect on the incredible growth I feel that I have achieved since entering the Trust. The dedication and hard work from the staff development team have been remarkable. This investment in me as a ECT is what has led me to make significant progress and I feel like I am ending the year on a positive outcome, not just in my role but in myself too’.
